Ceiliúradh na mBan 1918-2018
Comhaltas Ceoltóiri Shligigh recognises the very significant contribution bywomen over many years to Comhaltas Ceoltóiri Eireann.In this historic year when we celebrate the 100th annniversary of Bliain na mBan - the year whenwomen got to vote for the first time under the Representation of the People Act on 6th February 1918. That same year a famous Co Sligo woman, Countess Marcievicz, was the very first woman ever to be elected to the House of Parliament.One lady from each branch was presented with the awards for their exceptional contribution to Comhaltas over many years. A centenary scroll and an opportunity to sign the distinguished visitors book was presented by the Cathaoirleach Sligo Council Martin Baker and a commemorative plaque and a centenary medal was presented by Sligo CCÉ Chairman Martin Enright to all the recipients.
